Defabuse identifies websites that have had content added without their owner’s permission, and notifies the owner and their hosting provider. Every notice we send carries a reference number, printed near the top of the email.
Do not take our word for it
None of them require contacting us.
Type site:yoursite.com into the search box. If pages appear that do not belong to you, the notice is accurate.
Look for recently modified files in your hosting account — particularly .htaccess and your theme or plugin directories.
Remove any administrator you do not recognise, rotate passwords, and update your CMS and its extensions.
What we want from you
Nothing.
Our notices never ask you to click a link, download a file or enter any information. If you received an email that did, it did not come from us — please disregard it.
What we detect
Content added without permission is hidden from ordinary visitors and served only to search engine crawlers. That is why an owner can go months without noticing.

Same address, same moment, entirely different content. The site’s search reputation is redirected to somebody else’s.
Method
We read publicly available pages and consult DNS and registry records. We never attempt access to any system and do nothing beyond ordinary retrieval.
A notice is only produced when there is a concrete, recorded finding. Suspicion is not enough.
Each observation is stored with its timestamp and the identity it was retrieved under. It is not edited afterwards.
We do not send automated bulk mail. Notices are reviewed individually and sent only after approval.
We do not write to the same address repeatedly. Tell us you would rather not hear from us and we close the record.
We do not publish the sites we identify. Evidence is shared only with the site owner and the relevant provider.
